Between 10am and 3:30pm on the first Saturday of every month we’re running a special online version of our monthly Faith Trail in real-time so you enjoy it even if we can’t do it in person at the moment!
Here’s what you can expect from today’s itinerary.
9:30am A special video exploring the origins of the Faith Trail, now ten years old!
10am People start to assemble at the top of Leeds Road and to introduce themselves to one another. There are people of all faiths and none, young and older, from Bradford and further afield…
10:15am The Faith Trail begins! After a general introduction there is an explanation of some aspects of the Christian faith and Catholicism and a tour of Saint Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, followed by tea and biscuits.
11am The group makes its way to the Abu Bakar Masjid, a short walk down Leeds Road.
11:15am The group is welcomed to the Masjid and there is an introduction to Islam and how Muslims worship.
12noon The group walks together further down Leeds Road to the Shree Lakshmi Narayan Hindu Temple.
12:15pm There is a welcome to the Hindu Temple and an introduction to Hinduism.
12:45pm A special video looking back at the special ‘Iconic Places of Worship’ tour.
1pm The group leaves the Hindu Temple and walks the short distance to the Guru Gobind Singh Gurdwara.
1:15pm It’s time to enter the Gurdwara and enjoy a talk about Sikhism and the practices of Sikhs.
2pm The group is offered a vegetarian langar lunch and enjoy traditional Sikh hospitality.
2:30pm It’s time to leave the Gurdwara and make our way together to Bradford Cathedral.
2:45pm The group is welcomed to Bradford Cathedral, where there is an explanation of another Christian denomination, the Church of England faith. There is also a tour of the Cathedral, which is the oldest building in Bradford.
3:30pm The Faith Trail ends, with another cup of tea/coffee and biscuits and a chance to talk over this fascinating experience with our fellow travellers.
