What’s On: February 2021

Here are some of the highlights of things coming up this month at Bradford Cathedral.

The stories of Genesis: Angels, Arks, Vengeance, Deception, Murder, Enslavement, Love, Promises kept and promises broken, Hopes and Dreams, the birth of nations and so much more.

Our Weekly Bible Study takes place every Monday this month at 7pm. Find out more online.

Tuesday 2nd February is Candlemas, and you can find out more about the day alongside some facts, in our recent videos all about it, as well as your chance to watch back to our carol service! There are even some great resources for teachers, parents and carers to use on our website.

Our Director of Music Alex Berry will have a new programme of organ pieces streamed live from the cathedral on Wednesday 3rd February at 12:30pm, and available for catch-up afterwards.

Exploring Faith, our beginners course on Christianity, continues on Thursday 4th February at 7pm and every Thursday through the month. Find out more on our website.

How do questions about identity, sexuality, relationships and marriage fit within the bigger picture of the good news of Jesus Christ? What does it mean to live in love and faith together as a Church?

Living in Love and Faith groups start up during the week of 15th February.

On Wednesday 17th February we will be holding a streamed Ash Wednesday service online at 10:30am. Also look out for new videos around this team exploring the history and meaning behind that day, Shrove Tuesday and the period of Lent, which begins on that Wednesday.

Fairtrade Fortnight begins on Monday 22nd February and you can find out lots more on our website, with our online Big Fairtrade Breakfast happening on the first Sunday in March.

The Rhythm of Life – cathedral Lent groups – start online on Wednesdays from the 24th February. They are based around seven ‘habits’ that can nurture faith and life. This will be facilitated by Cathedral clergy and you can book your place at https://bradfordcathedral.churchsuite.co.uk/events/gdb23qvy

Our Assistant Director of Music Graham Thorpe will take to the organ for his recital on Wednesday 24th February.

Also, the Bradford Area Prayer and Spirituality Team invite you to a day of reflection on Saturday 27th February from 10am – 3pm on Zoom.

Don’t forget you can also join us every Sunday at 10:30am for our live-streamed Eucharist Service, Monday – Saturday at 9am and 5:30pm for Morning and Evening Prayer and we’ll be encouraging everyone in a Prayer for the Nation every day at 6pm to pray for those affected by the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. You can also join us for personal prayer Wednesday – Saturday from 2-4pm (except in the week beginning the 8th February when there are works being undertaken in the cathedral).
